Cub Scouts

Welcome

1st Uxbridge Cubs is proud to be an active, fun pack. We cater for both boys and girls from the age of 8 till they go up to Scouts at around 10½.

We meet weekly during school termtime and often during the summer holidays as well.

Using the scouting method of working in sixes (small teams), we encourage the Young People to develop themselves physically, emotionally and spiritually as well as having a good time.

Sixers and Seconders Camp 2004 E-mail
Thursday, 16 September 2004 00:00

Our sixers and seconders camp happened on an autumnal september weekend, and was both a training camp for our sixers and seconders, an opportunity to camp with those closer to their age range, and of course FUN.

We camped at Lees Wood, spending Friday night setting up, playing some wide games and then some sleep....

On the Saturday we did Orienteering, the Assault Course and a few activities around site, before disappearing to Aquasplash at Jarmin Park, Hemel Hempstead for a swim.

On our return we cooked dinner over an open fire prepared by the cubs and played games around the site in the evening.

The Sunday was another full day with activities including archery and lunch out at a Frankie and Bennies, which was enjoyed by all.

We returned to site and packed up and returned to Uxbridge....

District Camp 2004 E-mail
Sunday, 16 May 2004 00:00

This camp was our opportunity to camp with other packs in the district and share activities with them. The camp was on the top of a hill and we had our own area set-aside just for us...

On the Saturday of camp there were a number of activities including Rifle Shooting, Cresta Run, Archery, a treasure hunt and an Aerial Runway. We had a whole-district campfire and then some really big wide-games (involving upwards of 250 8-10 year olds).

On the Sunday after a traditional Scouts Own we had more of the same activities, followed by a big game of baseball on the central area.

2004 saw us continue our programme of sailing taster sessions and free sailing time for cubs. This involves using the facilities of Bury Lake Young Mariners in Rickmansworth.

We provide safe sessions, including the provision of two manned safety boats, and experienced supervision...

We sailed for 5 sundays in the year, and added to each of the cubs experiences and skills.

Gilwell Park Sleepover E-mail
Sunday, 22 February 2004 00:00

Our winter camp this year was a joint cub/scout sleepover at Gilwell Park's new super-building. This building accomodates 56 people in brilliant accomodation, including en-suite rooms for some.

It is divided into two wings, so it was divided into a "Scout wing" and a "Cub wing", with seperate programmes for both sections, but with coming dining arrangments.

The Cubs spent the Saturday doing archery, visiting the shop, volleyball, climbing, finding out about the history of Scouting and watching a movie.

On the Sunday, they played Rounders, Crate Stacked, made Pizzas, did a Scavenger Hunt and still had energy left for the odd game of football...

There are no photos of this camp available at the moment.
